Course Outline

 

 

OVERVIEW - CERTIFICATE IN CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY

The Certificate Course involves 30 hours of tuition.

It can be undertaken one evening a week for ten weeks or as a five day intensive course.

Additional group practice sessions away from the School are encouraged and strongly recommended.

Audio-visual work is included in the course content.

Students practical work is filmed and played back for analysis and self criticism.

On successful completion of the examination graduates are awarded the Certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy (a minimum of 80% attendance is required to qualify for examination).

This course is accredited by the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists an independent body of professional hypnotherapists.

Printed lecture notes are supplied for much of the course.

Students may record lectures for future reference and revision. Note taking is recommended.

This course is a skill based and comprehensive training program.

It is recommended for those wishing to use hypnosis in their existing professional practice or as the starting point for those wanting to train as a Clinical Hypnotherapist.

You may exit after completion of the Certificate Course or continue with advanced training for the award of the Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy.

COURSE OUTLINE

Lecture 1 - Introduction to Hypnosis

Demonstrations of hypnosis including age regression, retentive memory training, hyperaesthesia, anaesthesia, increased physical performance etc. A broad overview of the subject, dangers of hypnosis, the use of suggestion etc.

Lecture 2 - First Techniques

Techniques of 'waking' and 'sleeping hypnosis'. Testing methods, deepening methods, awakening procedures.

Lecture 3 - Open Eye Techniques

Susceptibility and induction techniques will be covered for both 'waking' and 'sleeping' hypnosis.

Lecture 4 - Closed Eye Techniques

Hypnotic Techniques utilising visualisation and imagination.

Lecture 5 - Psychology

Recognising behavioural abnormalities and personality characteristics - when to say no to the use of hypnosis and when to refer and to whom.

Lecture 6 - Practical Session

Much of this session will be devoted to filming and replaying students practical performance for constructive review and analysis.

Lecture 7 - Clinical Procedures and Therapy

Interview techniques and case history taking. Therapeutic scripts relating to smoking, weight control and nervous tension. The role of ideomotor questioning.

Lecture 8 - Therapies and Self-Hypnosis

Further therapeutic scripts covering stuttering, memory training, concentration, etc. Suggestions for teaching self hypnosis.

Lecture 9 - Age Regression and Therapies

Age regression as a technique to gain information for use as a therapeutic tool. Further therapies for migraine, sexual problems, painless childbirth, anaesthesia, pain control for minor surgery & dentistry, etc.

Lecture 10 - Examination

Theory and practical examination leading to the award of the Certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy.
