Course Outline

 

OVERVIEW - DIPLOMA IN CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY

The Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy offers advanced training for those wishing to further their knowledge in the specialised field of hypnosis.

Successful completion of our Certificate in Clinical hypnotherapy or equivalent is a pre requisite for entry into the Diploma Course.

The Course is conducted over a series of weekends and consists of 10 modules of study. These modules can be undertaken in any order.

On completion of the 10 modules a written examination is undertaken. Successful students are awarded the Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy.

Those wishing to attend individual Modules may do so. A Certificate of Participation is issued for each module attended.

In Cases of cancellation when less than 7 days notice is given, anadministrative fee of $50 will be charged.

Participation in these modules is conditional on completion of our Certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy or equivalent.

COURSE OUTLINE

MODULE 1: A PRACTICAL WORKSHOP (1 day)

This Module will include demonstrations, audio visual presentations and practical instruction covering the following topics:
• Relaxation, Induction and Deepening Techniques
• Analytical Hypnotherapy based on the work of Dr. Edgar Barnett

MODULE 2: MODELS OF HYPNOTHERAPY AND SCRIPT WRITING (1 day)

This module will include the following:
• discussion of various models of hypnotherapy
• case histories
• script writing.
And will be based on the following approaches: Psychodynamic, Behavioural, Cognitive and Ericksonian
Students will divide into small groups to write hypnotherapeutic scripts based on the models discussed.

MODULE 3: ADVANCED CLINICAL HYPNOSIS (2 days)

This module will include demonstrations and practical instruction. The following topics will be covered
• The applications of Hypnosis in Internal Medicine
• Hypnotic analgesia and anaesthesia
• The Use of Hypnosis in Pain Alleviation
• Abreaction
• Counselling & Hypnosis
• Mental Status Examination: Assessing a New Patient,
• Communication and the Clinician
• Hypnosis and Psychosomatic Medicine
• Hypno-Cognitive Intervention Strategy for Minor Depression
• Schizophrenia: Causes, Intervention, Treatment & Rehabilitation
• Hypno-analysis
• Utilisation of Hypnosis in the Treatment of Addictions,

MODULE 4: AN INTRODUCTION TO ERICKSONIAN HYPNOSIS (2 days)

This module is a two day workshop and will cover an overview of Milton Erickson’s approach to therapy and innovative induction techniques based on non-structured and indirect induction techniques. The use of metaphors will be explained and demonstrations and audio visual presentations will be included.

MODULE 5: FORENSIC APPLICATIONS OF HYPNOSIS (1 day)

This module will cover the following topics:
• Local and overseas attitudes to hypnosis in the legal structure
• Significance of evidence via hypnosis
• Hypno Interrogation
• Recall via hypnosis - objective/subjective
• Interview techniques
• Ramifications of hypnosis applied to forensic issues
• Case histories of Forensic Hypnosis
• Hypnosis in the Courtroom
• Preparing Medico/Legal Reports
• Appearing as an Expert Witness

MODULE 6: NON CLINICAL APPLICATIONS OF HYPNOSIS (1 day)

This module will include demonstrations and practical instruction and cover the following topics:
• The Non Clinical Applications of Hypnosis in Organisations: An overview
• Machiavellianism & Hypnosis
• Hypnosis: Success Imagery , Image Manipulation, Parkinson
• Hypnosis for Performance Anxiety and Stress Management
• Performance Improvement in Sport
• Stage Hypnosis: Explaining the myths

MODULE 7: CLINICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL ISSUES IN HYPNOSIS (1 day)

This module will include audio visual demonstrations and practical instructions and will cover the following topics:
• Paradoxical Treatment Strategies
• Hypnosis are we talking about the same thing?
• Breast Augmentation using Visual Imagery & Hypnotic Stimulation
• Hypnosis to Aid Difficult Conception Cases
• Attitudes and Research on Hypnosis and Sexual Problems: Case Histories
• The use of Hypnosis with Dissociative Identity Disorders

MODULE 8: THE THERAPEUTIC USE OF PAST LIFE REGRESSION

This module is a one day workshop and will include audio visual presentations, demonstrations and practical instruction.

MODULE 9: HYPNOSIS & COGNITIVE BEHAVIOUR THERAPY (3 days)

This module is a practical workshop and will include audio visual presentations and practical instruction. A manual as a guide to the text will be provided. It is recommended that students read the text prior to commencement of this module.

This module is a practical workshop and will include demonstrations and practical instruction. It is recommended that students read the text prior to commencement of this module.
